While the traditional bamboo shinai (swords) have problem with hangnails, splitting, and cracking, our innovative shinai, made of carbon graphite and high performance plastic, almost never have these problems. With durability 30 times higher than bamboo shinai, carbon shinais have been authorized by the All Japan Kendo Federation.

This particular shinai has a different feel than the traditional bamboo shinai with an oval grip.  The shinai feels slightly heavier, and the balance is more towards the tsuka.  This should make it easier to do the quick snap attack.

I could find no flaws or blemishes in the workmanship on this shinai.  While it is the same price as 12 of the bamboo shinai, it will last much longer.  An excellent shinai for keiko, since we are in keiko far more often than shiai.
