First time in the history, a Daito specialized for Nitoryu style. Top quality Nitoryu Shinai, HARIMA, a Daito designed for Nitoryu style. The official rule for Nitoryu Shinai is the following: The Shinai needs to be less than 114 cm, and have a weight more than 465g. This is the same as the Size 37 Shinai, so most of the people used a Size 37 Shinai as the Nitoryu Daito. However, Size 37 Shinai is usually used by Middle School students, and it usually does not come in the best balance, and the Shinai tends to break easier, specially when used by adults.
After many trials, e-bogu.com came up with a totally different concept of Shinai, in which we keep the same weight and length defined by the rule, but by using a thicker bamboo, concentrating the weight on the handle (Tsuka) side. The Shinai is also a Dobari style, which makes the Shinai look much thicker, and stronger. Also, we have made the grip oval, so that it gives the Kenshis a better Shinai control, and a better Hasuji, specially because Nitoryu players are holding the Shinai with one hand.
HARIMA is made of our top quality bamboo, and has a Delux Double folded Tsuka. If you are a Nitoryu player, this is one Shinai that you must have.

Our TOKUSEN Series Shinais are made from a batch of selected Top Quality MADAKE Bamboos. We carefully hand pick the selected bamboos, and each bamboo goes through a rigorous inspection process.

These bamboos are then cut into correct sizes, dried and stored waiting to be transformed into Shinais.

Shinai Making process:

Heat and pressure are applied to the bamboo pieces, in order to make it softer and to be adjusted to be straight.

Each Bamboos is hand placed on a machine to fix the shape.

The Bamboo is placed on the cutter, in order to make the shape of the Shinai.

Then the Bamboo piece is placed on a sanding machine to produce the 45 degrees angle.

Another sanding machine is used to give the touch to the corners of the bamboo pieces.

Then the 4 pieces of Bamboo are placed together and inserted into another sanding machine for the final touch.

Final detailed waxing of the Shinai to give a nice luster to the shinai.

Nice Shinai - Recommended to Nito beginners March 2, 2015

Bought and used this shinai for the Yuhihai. The oval grip feels great. It makes using nito a bit easier for beginners, in my opinion. If you are thinking about starting nito, this might be a great start before thinking about using a normal shaped tsuka for a shinai.

Dobari Nitoryu Daito Shinai - Amazing feel October 23, 2014

The oval grip is very comfortable in your hand and gives you alot of control overall, blade is balanced pretty well. I use it alone, not Nito style and it works wonders!
