I like the subtlety and skill of Japanese design so it was disappointing to feel that this design could have been better crafted. The stitches are longer (fewer of them) than in the catalog photo, and this makes the stitch lines look angular and zig-zaggy, giving a coarser look than shorter stitches might. However, the tsuba is tough and fits e-Bogu's Master Quality bokken well, so in practice I am going to be OK with it - it's much better than plastic.

An excellent X-mas present to get from your boyfriend :)
The leather is very thick, and very tough. It does not bend easily and the sakura patterning is absolutely beautiful. I did, however, have a problem putting this tsuba on the Bokken w/Groove which I purchased here on e-bogu. The black ink part in the Sakura design is sometimes faded out.
Otherwise, I would buy this, since it is absolutely beautiful, and it is just as hard as a plastic tsuba.
