Features
NAGATO BESSAKU Shinai has a thick handle, and a exceptional balance. Similar to our other Bessaku series, this Shinai has more angular corners, increasing the bamboo skin surface, improving the strength of the bamboo.
"This Shinai was based on a old Shinai that I had for many years, which was given to me by a Sensei at the Keishicho (Tokyo Police Department) in the 1980s. At that time, I thought the shinai was too thick for me, so I did not use it and I kept it brand new. Recently, I was looking through my collection of Shinais and I found this one. I held the Shinai, and did some Suburi, and it felt so good, so I decided to send it to our factory, and create a similar Shinai. After many trials, we were able to create the same balance, thickness and feel. If you like Shinais with thicker handle, you should definitely try this one." (Taro Ariga CEO e-bogu.com Inc. Just what I was looking for! April 20, 2014
Reviewer: Ryan Kappes from Mendota Heights, MN United States
For a while I have been looking for a replacement to a shinai a friend from Japan gave me.  This one finally nailed it with the right balance and feel.  I have medium hands, but I find the larger handle to be more comfortable over long practices. definitely a thicker shinai.  I am very pleased with it.  When you swing this shinai, it feels like it is flowing.  I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a meatier shinai!

Great Shinai November 26, 2010
Reviewer: Tom Young from Toronto, ON Canada
This is my 3rd time I bought this Shinai. It has a great balance, and for someone looking for a thicker handle Shinai, this is the one. The weight is well balanced, and it does not feel like the 440 grams that shows on the scale. Definitely my favorite.
