"Yagyu Shinkage Ryu is one of the greatest and most famous Japanese schools of swordsmanship or kenjutsu. Its name roughly means "Yagyu New Shadow School," Yagyu being the name of the family which came to head the school at the end of the 16th century. It grew out of a school headed by Kamiizumi Nobutsuna, who named Yagyu Muneyoshi his successor in 1565. Today, the Yagyu school remains one of the most widely practiced schools of Japanese swordsmanship." (From Wikipedia)

Very good product.Looks and feels great. Sensei was very impressed with the leather work. Highly recommended. I used the cheapest Worldwide shipping that was available and the item took just over 7 days for delivery. Impressive considering I live on the other side of the world.

I bought this shinai for my kenjutsu class more than a year ago and I've been using it everyday for practises and classes.  The bamboo is still sturdy, the leather is weathered but hasn't gotten thin, and is still tightly wound on the bamboo.  The whole shinai is bit light in weight and a bit skinnier than the official ones that my ryu uses.  But I highly recommend the quality of this shinai.
