I purchased this hakama over a year ago. It was the first hakama I'd ever bought, so I wanted to go with something inexpensive since I wasn't entirely sure about sizing, material, etc.
A year later, I am quite pleased with it. I use it for aikido and it's held up well. I had some problems with some seams coming apart in the straps, but it was minor. I caught it early enough that I was able to sew it and reinforce the stitches. No problems since then.
When I first started wearing the hakama, the koshita was very stiff, so taking falls in aikido was uncomfortable. Maybe that's the case with all hakama, I'm not really sure since this was my first. But after a couple of months, it seemed to "break in" and softened up.
As for cleaning, I haven't had any problems just throwing it in the washer and air-drying it. No shrinkage, no wrinkles, and the pleats have stayed well.
Overall, no complaints about this hakama. Well worth your money, especially if this is your first buy.
