5 of 5 A real beauty May 7, 2012
Reviewer: César Hashimoto from São Paulo, Brazil
I am a true beginner and have used this shinai for about 6 months, now. The thicker grip is great, the handling is very light, and the darker, treated bamboo is simply elegant and durable. I am very satisfied with it. Unfortunately after using this one for about 6 months I got my first splinter. Consider that a beginner (well, at least me) hits really hard the men in the mengane, so I truely believe that my shinai endured really well. Now I'm ordering two backup shinai of the same model. Greetings to all from Brazil.

5 of 5 MY FAVOURITE August 17, 2010
Reviewer: Travis S Soleski from Redlands, CA United States
I will begin by saying that I have a Carbon Shinai, even thought I like it, I still truly like the feel of this particular shinai, I have had only two style shinais, the very first basic one that I purchased, then a friend introduced me to this style shinai by kindly giving me one, then I have only purchased this style replacement since.  It just feels RIGHT in my hands.  I have two of these at all times and my CARBON shinai is the back third back up.

5 of 5 Light Feel. May 2, 2009
Reviewer: Anonymous Person
I'm 5'4 approxmately 125lbs. I bought this as my Second shinai, and I Had my first practise today with it. It has somewhat of a light feel to it. very durable, and what can I say, I'm more than satisfied, but..the only thing i'd say is, I have small hands, and the handle is a bit thick, lol but if you get used to it, that shouldnt be a problem. Hope this helps.

5 of 5 Light feel. March 2, 2007
Reviewer: John Crawley from San Pedro, CA United States
Like the Mino, this Kai Dobari Shinai is superbly crafted but has a lighter feel to it. The tip feels lighter so I feel like I am able to move it faster. Great value for money. (Looks great too).
So nice I bought another one as a backup.

5 of 5 Excellent Shinai for Practice and Competition December 25, 2006
Reviewer: Michael Forte from Ferndown, Dorset United Kingdom
I have been using this shinai for over a year now and, from the start, I found the balance to be perfect for me.

None of the slats have splintered at all and it still looks fairly new... a very hard-wearing, solid practice and competition shinai... hmmm... I must order a spare...!

...added 25/12/2006... I have just received my new Kai shinai and the build qulaity is identical to my existing one... which is still in pretty much pristine condition!!! Excellent !!!

4 of 5 It's my good shinai April 27, 2006
Reviewer: T. Chan from NY,United States
Feels like as if was half carbon and half bamboo.
It's way heavier than the regular practice shinai.
(The weight is further towards the tip)
I've had this for a day so far, and it hasn't broken yet
