Carpentry Leaves Much to be Desired..... |

Has some balance issues, and during high speed strikes the right side of it tends to weigh down a little. Not reccomended for bokken to bokken contact; the groove accentuates vibrations like a tunning fork. Naturally the vibrations will kill this bokken. Damage may not show on the outside, but inside the wood of your bokken will be destroyed if engaging in full contact. Full contact not reccommended unless you've been at it for at least 5 years anyway. I finalize this review with a warning; you can get killed with a wooden sword just as easily as you can with a real one. The engineering of a katana (even a wooden one) allows it to travel at frightening speed. The blunt damage done by this bokken would be fatal especially if done by a reasonably proficient swordsman. Please treat it with the respect one treats a loaded gun and excercise extreme caution. We are trying to get fit people; this is not the Tokugawa era. Thanks.

Finally it arrived and what a beauty... Doing suburi with this bokuto is something else than swinging a normal bokken! You just have to hear the wood make sound. And the funny thing is, your circulation starts pumping after several suburi's giving that pumpy feeling. I must advise, not for kids... It's quite a workout for the shoulders and biceps. In our dojo we do 1000 suburi with a shinai, don't even think you can do it with this one. Well done e-bogu, I'll let you know if I can do a 1000 suburi's!
