| KAMAKURA was based on the Design of one of our most popular CHOKUTO model Shinai ISSHO. KAMAKURA was based on Taro Ariga's favorite selection of Shinais. KAMAKURA was custom produced to our specifications after many trials with the Shinai manufacturer. Many high ranking Senseis in Japan prefers CHOKUTO Stlye over the Dobari Stlye Shinais. The bamboo was specially treated with BIO Technology for durability, giving a dark traditional look. Very beautiful finish. "I try to use both CHOKUTO and Dobari Shinais. The reason for that is that they both have a different balance. In Dobari style Shinais, the balance is placed more towards just above the Tsuba, where as for the KOTO style Shinais the balance is throughout the entire blade portion. I use Dobari style Shinais when quick and multiple strikes are required, since it has the weight on the handle portion. I use CHOKUTO Shinai for daily practices since it gives you the feeling of holding a real sword, and it is better for 'One Shot' type Ji-Geiko. KAMAKURA is very effective for Ai-Men (Wait until the last minute for the opponent's attack, and strike before the opponent). If you are satisfied with the quality of our Shinais, I would strongly recommend our new Chokuto stlye Shinai, KAMAKURA.
