A tsuba like this, of course, is ultimately a luxury item--the plastic ones that come standard with most shinais will do the job just fine. But, oh, what a difference it makes to see a little work of art like this on your shinai! It's not about utility, it's about honoring the art we've chosen to pursue. Which is not to say that the Kurozan leather tsuba won't withstant the rigors of keiko: it's 100% solid and rugged. I expect it to serve me a long time.
