DARK "KAI" Dobari Style Shinai October 17, 2016 Reviewer: ES from Chicago, IL United States   Nicely balanced shinai, weight feels like it is closer to the tsukagawa, and I really like the interesting dual color bamboo. Cool and distinct April 25, 2016 Reviewer: Kaz from Fairfax, VA United States   My son started Kendo just last year and as many people know, Kendo is sometimes difficult for young people to continue.  I wanted to give motivation for my son by giving him a very cool and distinct shinai.  I knew KAI would do it because I use this myself.  It has a very nice donbari shape with noticeable dark coating that you can see from far away. All rounder shinai. December 6, 2015 Reviewer: John from New Jersey   For $60, this is a very nice shinai.  The problem with dobari in general is that it's usually too light on the tip and it lacks precision.  However, Kai feels more stable than most dobari shinai.  I can still land a mean tsuki and just do good kendo overall.  Again, this is not the fastest dobari shinai I've used, so don't expect it to feel like super light Jissengata shinai.  I always complained to my friends about how I don't like E-Bogu shinai, because they always feel so heavy(especially Tokusen Madake series).  But I think Kai is going to be my go-to shinai until I find a better one.  Also, I love the dark matte finish on this shinai.  Very fancy.
