While the traditional bamboo shinai (swords) have problem with hangnails, splitting, and cracking, our innovative shinai, made of carbon graphite and high performance plastic, almost never have these problems. With durability 30 times higher than bamboo shinai, carbon shinais have been authorized by the All Japan Kendo Federation.

The great dobari carbon fibre shinai. Great for practice and strengthens your wrists and improves your speed with a bamboo shinai. Used one for a full 2 years. Training between 2-3 times/week on average. Last Friday, two pieces collapsed in from the inner side. This happened during routine kote-do drills. I definitely expected a longer life-span out of my model. I wouldn't buy one again. Wasn't a very good investment.
