I normally wear a 4 or 5 (if I want it large) karategi. Based upon the sizing chart I ordered a size 4. The uniform that I received (which was labeled a size 4) was easily a size 6 in the brand that I order for my students. After a couple of warm washes and regular cycles through the drier it fit fine.
Regarding the material itself, it seems more like light middle-weight material than heavy weight. I'm wondering if they sent me the wrong gi by mistake.
That said, I've ordered from e-bogu a couple of times now. I'm generally happy with the service and products. Just not sure if I'll order any more karate gi.

BUTOKU Heavy Weight Karate Uniform |

I’ve been using this gi for well over six months now, and haven’t been able to find a single thing to complain about. Compared to my first gi (which was still a pretty descent heavy-weight), my Butoku came ready to go and fit perfectly with no tailoring or rolling up of the sleeves required. Its heavier design is quite durable and the tie cords are much stronger than most other karate uniforms I’ve seen. This added strength and durability does tend to make it a bit warmer than my old gi, but a little sweat never hurts. Overall, an outstanding product for those of us not ready to sink in the cash for a Tokaido. You won’t be disappointed.
