Purchased this item separately from my bokken and was worried about the fit.  No problem at all with or without using a tsuba/gumi. Plenty of length in saya to use without tsuba/gumi.
I also tried a couple of different bokken that have slight width variations. All held well at the koiguchi for practice.  If you do not have one for your boken I would recommend this item.
