Great for practice and tournaments! |

I live in Michigan where winter practices can really destroy shinai. The dry weather causes splintering and splits, but the BIO treated Mino Koto Shinai has proven that it can withstand the weather. Since the fit and finish of this shinai is also impressive, it is a great shinai to show up to tournaments with.
I'm sure that the higher price (at least relative to a practice shinai) will turn off some people, but I believe you will save more money in the long run buying a shinai that is BIO-treated. If you have developed your swing to the point where you properly use your left arm for cuts, then this shinai should last you a long, long time. An absolute joy to use!
One word of caution from an intermediate kendoka: If you favor rapid hits in succession for your shiai, then you might find this shinai a bit slow. The description recommends this shinai for the "one hit" style, and they weren't kidding!
