This is the New version of one of our MINO Shinai. It has has the same balance and same feel, but the bamboo color is darker, and has a nicer finish. Very beautiful finish. It is a thin grip KOTO (CHOKUTO) GATA Shinai.

Mino's design is very unique. Based on antique Shinais, with the KOTO style, it has a straight finish, all through the Shinai (which is opposite to the Dobari Shinais). MINO was based on a Shinai that an old 8 Dan Sensei gave to me. The bamboo has a special treatment, giving a dark traditional look. Very beautiful finish. "It was a big surprise when an old 8 Dan Sensei gave me his Shinai that was given to him by his Sensei, about 40 years ago. This old Shinai had a very different concept than what the Shinais are now days. It even felt that I was holding a real sword. It had a very nice balance, and it did not have that fat Dobari feeling. The Sensei told me that in the old days, Kenshis used to use this type of Shinai. I would strongly recommend our new Koto style Shinai, MINO. As the Kenshi goes higher in ranks, they tend to go into a 'One Shot' style, and I believe that is the ultimate beauty of the Kendo. Win and Hit, instead of Hit and Win." I've been using this shinai for a few years now.  It lasts forever because the shinai is quite strong.  It is well balanced as well and moves very well in my hands.  I keep coming back to this shinai time after time.
